Smart Reminders

Context-aware reminders that understand your classroom. Unlike generic reminder apps, Mossie's reminders know your students -- "remind me about Ethan" links to the right Ethan and shows you relevant context when the reminder fires.

What Makes Them "Smart"

When you mention a student name in a reminder, Mossie automatically:

  • Links to the student -- The reminder is associated with their profile
  • Shows context -- When the reminder fires, you see that student's recent notes, subjects, and history
  • Connects the dots -- You remember not just what to do, but why

Creating Reminders

In the App

  1. Open the Reminders screen from the navigation menu
  2. Tap Add Reminder
  3. Enter your reminder content
  4. Optionally link to a student or subject
  5. Set a due date and priority
  6. Tap Save

Set reminders hands-free from any platform:

Default Due Date

Voice-created reminders default to tomorrow at 9 AM -- a sensible starting point for teachers who capture reminders during the school day. You can adjust the due date in the app.

Managing Reminders

Viewing by Status

Reminders are organized into tabs:

  • Today -- Due today
  • Upcoming -- Due in the future
  • Overdue -- Past due and not yet completed
  • Completed -- Already done

Completing Reminders

Tap the checkbox next to a reminder to mark it as done. Completed reminders move to the Completed tab.

Snoozing Reminders

Need more time? Snooze options include:

  • 1 hour -- Quick delay
  • 3 hours -- Defer to later in the day
  • Tomorrow -- Tomorrow at 9 AM
  • Custom -- Pick any date and time

Editing Reminders

Tap any reminder to edit:

  • Content
  • Due date and time
  • Linked student or subject
  • Priority (Low, Normal, High)

Recurring Reminders

Premium Feature

Recurring reminders require a Premium subscription.

Set reminders that repeat automatically:

Pattern Example
Daily "Review reading logs" every school day
Weekly "Team meeting every Monday at 8 AM" -- pick specific days
Monthly "Submit attendance report on the 1st"

For weekly reminders, you can select specific days of the week (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

Student Context

When a reminder is linked to a student, tapping it reveals rich context:

  • Recent notes -- The last several notes you have captured about this student
  • Enrolled subjects -- What classes the student is in
  • Note count -- How many observations you have recorded recently

Tap the student's name to jump directly to their full profile in the Classroom view.

Context in Notifications

When a student-linked reminder fires, the notification includes:

  • The student's name in the title
  • Your reminder content
  • A note count summary (e.g., "3 notes this week")

This context helps you recall exactly why you set the reminder.

Tap the Reminder button (blue bell) and speak your reminder.

Tips

  1. Use student names -- Say the name clearly so Mossie can link it to the right student
  2. Keep it brief -- Short, specific reminders are easier to act on
  3. Check daily -- Review your Today tab each morning
  4. Use recurring for routines -- Set up weekly tasks once and let them repeat

Troubleshooting

Student not linked

If Mossie does not link a student to your reminder:

  • Check that the student is in your classroom roster
  • Try using their full first name
  • Unusual spellings may not match -- edit the reminder to link manually

Notifications not appearing

  1. Check notification permissions in your device Settings
  2. Confirm Mossie has permission to send notifications
  3. Check Do Not Disturb settings
