Quick Start¶
Get started with Mossie in about 5 minutes. By the end of this guide, you will have created your workspace, generated your first lesson plan, and set up your classroom.
Step 1: Sign Up¶
Go to mossie.education or download the Mossie app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Tap Get Started
- Sign up with your Google account or create an account with your email and password
- If using email, verify your email address via the confirmation link
You start with a 7-day free trial of Premium -- all features unlocked.
Step 2: Complete the Setup Wizard¶
After signing in, the setup wizard walks you through a few quick steps:
- Your name -- How Mossie greets you
- School name -- For context in generated content
- Timezone -- So reminders and scheduling work correctly
- Language -- Choose your preferred UI language (English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Spanish, Swedish, French, or Portuguese)
- Curriculum framework -- Select your curriculum standard (e.g., CAPS, Common Core, UK National Curriculum, Australian Curriculum)
- Subjects -- Add the subjects you teach
- Students -- Optionally add your students (you can do this later)
- Connections -- Connect Google Workspace for export (optional, can be done later)
Tip
You can skip any step and configure it later in Settings. The only required field is your name.
Step 3: Generate Your First Lesson Plan¶
Try an AI assistant right away:
- From the Home screen, tap the Lesson Plan assistant
- Fill in the basics:
- Subject -- e.g., "Mathematics"
- Grade level -- e.g., "Year 5"
- Topic -- e.g., "Introduction to fractions"
- Duration -- e.g., "45 minutes"
- Tap Generate
- Review the structured lesson plan that appears -- complete with objectives, activities, timing, and differentiation
- Edit anything you want to change
- Tap Save to keep it in your documents
All AI outputs are drafts. You always have the final say.
Step 4: Set Up Your Classroom¶
Give Mossie context about who you teach:
- Go to Classroom (via the sidebar on web, or bottom navigation on mobile)
- Tap Add Subject and enter a subject name (e.g., "Year 5 Maths")
- Open the subject and tap Add Student
- Enter student names or anonymous identifiers ("Student A", "Blue Group")
Tip
You can import students from a CSV file. Prepare a file with one name per line, then use the import option.
Step 5: Upload to the Knowledge Base¶
Help Mossie understand your school:
- Go to My School (in the sidebar on web, or under More on mobile)
- Tap Upload
- Select a document -- a curriculum guide, school policy, or any reference document
- Choose a category: Policies, Curriculum, Vocabulary, or General
- Wait for processing to complete (usually under a minute)
Once processed, Mossie uses this document to align generated content with your school's standards and policies. You can also ask Mossie questions about it.
